Fun at Feb. 2016 Trivia Night!
submitted by Shea Van Vuuren, president of The Manchester Community Schools Foundation
As you may know the funding available for our schools is, for the most part, out of our control. The state determines the money districts are given for operating expenses. We are unable to pass a millage to give our schools more money for staff salaries, day-to-day expenses or any of the extras they may want or need. Often there are gaps to be filled and it is the mission of the Manchester Community Schools Foundation to help.
Recently the Foundation has been able to provide the following grants: Kindergarten Science Kits, Math Intervention Program for Middle School, Scholastic Magazines for Klager and Middle School, Learning in Action at Klager and Admission/Transportation to the Henry Ford Museum for the German Exchange Student Program. The Foundation has also provided funds for stand up desks at the Middle School and bounce chairs at Klager.
We anticipate the increase in STEM based curriculum and extra-curricular activities will increase requests for construction supplies and resources in the future. Would you consider supporting our mission? Here is how you can help:
- Donate any amount to the Foundation using PayPal. You can log on to your PayPal account, click on Pay or Send Money, click on Send Money to Friends and Family and then enter the Foundation’s email address manchestertrivia@gmail.com .
- Become a Patron: For a one-time tax deductible donation of $35 you can be a Patron for the school year.
- Grow a Leaf: For a $250 donation a leaf will be inscribed with your name, or whomever you would like to honor, and added to the tree that graces the wall in the High School Commons.
- Attend and support our events. We will be holding four fundraising events this school year.
- FAMILY TRIVIA NIGHT will be Saturday, November 5th.
- ADULT TRIVIA NIGHT will be Saturday, February 4th.
- FATHER-DAUGHTER DANCE on Saturday, February 25, 2017
- MOTHER-SON DANCE on Friday, March 24, 2017
